MEERKATKOLONIE ART AND DESIGN
This creative space hosts the work of well-known painter Michele Nigrini and the functional design pieces of Dahla Hulme. The work of these two artists represent the objects and images that are so bountiful in and around Rosendal. The adjoining gift shop includes Josephina’s popular 'twig dolls', hand embroidered cushions , bread boards, mosaics or whatever the inspiration of the moment.
MICHELE NIGRINI
Michèle believes that art is a medium for the elevation of the spirit and her work reflects the experience of everyday life.
Her colourful images portray her surroundings and the environment in which she lives - her aim is not to copy nature, but rather to interpret the essential character of things. Her work features in the collections of corporations, art museums, universities and private collectors. Michele also presents highly sought after creative workshops on a quarterly basis.

DAHLA HULME
In the landscape around Rosendal, DAHLA HULME frequently encounters forsaken farm implements that are worn out and discarded. The beauty of these abandoned objects inspires her to capture something of the past and make it part of the present through creating timeless and functional art pieces like tables, lights, murals and freestanding garden sculptures.
Dahla’s sought-after designs grace boardrooms, public areas, gardens and private collections and Meerkatkolonie Art and Design is the main outlet for her work.
